Overview

A business preferred handling customer orders through WhatsApp conversations rather than using the traditional WooCommerce cart and checkout process.

While WooCommerce provided an excellent product catalogue, the business wanted customers to start conversations directly from product pages without manually copying product information or sending incomplete inquiries.

To solve this, a custom WhatsApp ordering system was developed directly inside WooCommerce.

The Problem

The business wanted to use WhatsApp as its primary sales channel while still benefiting from WooCommerce’s product management capabilities.

The standard Add to Cart workflow did not fit the way the business handled orders.

Customers needed a faster way to:

  • Inquire about products
  • Contact the business
  • Share product details automatically
  • Start conversations without manual steps

The business also needed a way to manage the ordering process without editing code whenever requirements changed.

The Solution

A custom ordering workflow was built that replaces standard WooCommerce Add to Cart buttons with WhatsApp ordering buttons.

When a customer clicks the button, they are redirected directly to WhatsApp with a pre-filled message containing:

  • Product name
  • Product link
  • Inquiry message

From the WordPress admin area, store owners can:

  • Configure the WhatsApp number
  • Edit message templates
  • Change button text
  • Apply the ordering workflow across product pages

This allows the business to handle sales conversations through WhatsApp while keeping product information, pricing, and catalogue management inside WooCommerce.

Outcome

The business gained a streamlined ordering workflow that matched the way it already sold products.

Customers could start conversations faster, product information was shared automatically, and administrators could manage the entire workflow from the backend without relying on code changes.

The result was a simpler ordering experience for customers and a more manageable sales process for the business.
