Project Overview

Nganga Store is a fashion retail and wholesale business selling jewelry, handbags, wigs, and fashion accessories across Nigeria.

Before this project, the business was running on Shopify but wanted a more cost-effective ecommerce solution that could support both retail customers and wholesale buyers without the ongoing platform expenses.

The migration involved more than simply moving products from one platform to another.

The business wanted a website that was easier to navigate, better organized, and capable of supporting specific operational requirements such as:

  • Retail and wholesale pricing
  • Weight-based shipping
  • Store pickup workflows
  • Receipt uploads for bank transfers
  • Product migration from Shopify
  • Customer analytics
  • Abandoned cart recovery

I migrated the business from Shopify to WooCommerce, rebuilt the storefront structure, configured operational workflows, and developed a custom wholesale pricing solution tailored to the way the business sells products.

The Challenge

The business had already established an online presence, but several limitations were becoming difficult to ignore.

The monthly cost of Shopify was one concern.

The bigger issue was flexibility.

The business needed functionality that wasn’t available out of the box, particularly around wholesale pricing rules and customer purchasing requirements.

Customers needed to be able to:

  • Purchase products individually at retail prices
  • Unlock wholesale pricing after reaching a minimum quantity threshold
  • Upload payment receipts for manual bank transfer orders
  • Select delivery options based on order requirements
  • Navigate hundreds of products without confusion

The existing store structure also made product discovery harder than necessary, which created friction during shopping.

The Approach

Rather than recreating the Shopify website inside WooCommerce, the goal was to improve the entire shopping experience while reducing long-term operating costs.

The project focused on:

  • Migrating the store to WooCommerce
  • Improving category organization
  • Simplifying product discovery
  • Supporting wholesale and retail customers
  • Creating custom pricing functionality
  • Setting up analytics and SEO foundations
  • Improving customer recovery workflows

Special attention was given to making the website easier to manage internally while also making it easier for customers to find products and complete purchases.

Key Implementation

Shopify to WooCommerce Migration

The store was migrated from Shopify to WooCommerce to eliminate ongoing platform costs while giving the business greater control over future customization and growth.

This included product migration, store restructuring, and rebuilding the shopping experience on WordPress and WooCommerce.

Custom Wholesale Pricing System

This was one of the most important parts of the project.

The business needed a wholesale pricing model where customers would only unlock wholesale pricing after adding a minimum quantity of products to their cart.

After reviewing available WooCommerce solutions, none matched the exact purchasing rules the client wanted.

Using custom development, I built a wholesale pricing system that allows the business to control when wholesale pricing becomes available based on cart quantity requirements.

The solution was designed specifically around the client’s requirement that customers qualify for wholesale pricing only after reaching the required purchase threshold.

This eliminated the need for additional recurring plugin costs while giving the business a solution tailored to its exact sales process.

Bank Transfer Receipt Upload System

The business requested a workflow that allowed customers paying through direct bank transfer to upload proof of payment directly during the ordering process.

Using Checkout Files Upload for WooCommerce, customers can attach payment receipts directly to their orders instead of sending screenshots manually through WhatsApp or email.

This makes order verification easier for staff and keeps payment records attached to the correct order automatically.

Abandoned Cart Recovery

Using Cart Abandonment Recovery for WooCommerce, automated recovery workflows were configured to follow up with customers who added products to cart but did not complete checkout.

This helps recover potentially lost sales without requiring manual follow-up from staff.

SEO & Analytics Setup

The website was configured with Rank Math SEO and Site Kit by Google to give the business visibility into website performance and search traffic.

This allows the team to:

  • Monitor website traffic
  • Track search visibility
  • View visitor activity
  • Measure website performance

Outcome

Nganga Store now operates on a WooCommerce platform that better reflects how the business sells products.

The website supports:

  • Retail sales
  • Wholesale purchasing
  • Product quantity-based pricing
  • Receipt uploads for bank transfers
  • Weight-based shipping
  • SEO monitoring
  • Customer analytics
  • Abandoned cart recovery

Most importantly, the business now has a platform that gives it greater flexibility, lower long-term operating costs, and a shopping experience that is easier for customers to navigate.
