Overview

A catering business selling courses wanted to allow customers to pay for courses in installments rather than requiring full payment upfront.

The business needed a system that could track customer balances, record payment activity, and give both customers and administrators visibility into installment progress without relying on manual calculations.

To solve this, a custom installment payment portal was developed directly within WordPress.

The Problem

The standard WooCommerce Payment process is designed primarily for one-time payments.

The business needed a way to:

  • Accept installment payments
  • Track outstanding balances
  • Monitor payment history
  • Assign dedicated payment accounts
  • Allow customers to continue payments over time

Without a dedicated system, managing installment payments would require significant manual work and create unnecessary confusion for both customers and staff.

The Solution

A custom installment payment portal was built directly into the WooCommerce customer account area.

Customers can:

  • View total amount paid
  • View outstanding balances
  • Access payment history
  • See payment timestamps
  • Access their dedicated virtual account details

Each customer receives a dedicated virtual account, allowing payments to be tracked automatically as deposits are made. When a payment is received, balances and payment records update accordingly.

On the administration side, store managers can:

  • View installment records
  • Monitor customer balances
  • Track payment activity
  • View assigned account information
  • Manage installment settings

The system gives both customers and administrators a centralized place to monitor installment progress.
