Before working with me, GD Jewelries was doing well in terms of demand — hundreds of orders weekly — but everything was happening on WhatsApp.
This might sound like a good problem to have, but it created major issues:

Worse still, the business already had a website — but it wasn’t helping. The design was poor, the copy didn’t represent the brand, and it wasn’t clear how customers were supposed to shop.

STEP 1
Discovery & Research
We kicked things off with a discovery call. The CEO shared his goals, pain points, and expectations for the website. From that conversation, I prepared a custom quote, and once approved, we got started.
I dove into:

The goal? To understand what’s been working in the jewelry eCommerce space — and more importantly, what hasn’t.

STEP 2
Website Copywriting
Using insights from my research, I rewrote the entire website copy to:
Clearly state what GD sells
Make the brand feel more trustworthy and premium
Guide shoppers intuitively from browsing to buying
I used conversational, straightforward language that speaks directly to the target audience. No confusion. No fluff. Just clarity and conversion.
STEP 3
Design, Development & Functionality
Homepage & Shop Structure:
On both the homepage and shop pages, I created a clear category showcase that helps customers quickly find exactly what they want. This is supported by a sticky header that stays visible as users scroll, making navigation smooth and reinforcing the brand every step of the way. The site also features sections for best-selling products and new arrivals, which update automatically, so the client doesn’t need to manually manage those lists as new items come in.
Search & Navigation
I added a powerful quick search functionality right on the shop page and header, allowing customers to find products in just seconds. This feature reduces frustration and helps shoppers find their desired items without wasting time. Along with this, simple and intuitive filters make it easy for visitors to narrow down choices and avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Conversion/Urgency Boosters
Understanding how critical timing is for online shoppers, we changed all “Add to Cart” buttons to “Buy Now” buttons to encourage faster decisions and reduce hesitation. Additionally, we implemented a cart abandonment system that tracks visitors who leave items behind and sends them reminder emails. This system alone helped the client recover over 50 million naira (about $30,000) in lost revenue by nudging interested customers back to complete their purchases.
Customization Options
Since custom jewelry is a big part of the business, I built a special shop page where customers can upload pictures of designs or engravings they want. I added a simple form where they specify details like engraving text. This makes it easy for customers to personalize orders and for the jeweler to get clear instructions every time.
Trust/Social Proof
To build trust for first-time buyers, I added an inbuilt testimonial section and options for customers to leave reviews on products. Seeing positive feedback right on the site helps new visitors trust the brand and feel confident buying.
Order Management & Analytics
I set up automated order confirmation emails sent to both the client and customers to avoid any confusion about order status. On the backend, I gave the client access to built-in analytics, so they can clearly see sales trends, popular products, and where their visitors come from. This helps them make smart business decisions going forward.
Mobile and Desktop Optimization

Understanding that many customers shop on their phones, I made sure the website is fully optimized for both mobile and desktop. The layout is clean and easy to use, with fast loading times that keep shoppers engaged and ready to check out without any hassle.
